My Dance

My dance

"A dancing body doesn't tell a story nor represents it anything. Instead it creates an experience and shares it with the audience"

My Dance
In times when dance looks more and more for technical perfection, beautiful moves and virtuosity, when dance becomes more and more the exclusive area of young, healthy, technically advanced dancers , I am interested in alternatives, where dancers do not adapt to technical conditions but dance adapts tot he dancers…

Instead of occupying space and time by spacial and rhythmic patterns, my dances strives to evoke the feeling of space and time by minimizing and hiding moves. The search goes inside the dancing body instead of his outer appearance. By reduction every security of interpretation is stopped. The dancing body is a material entity, a warehous of physical and psychic memories, of individual acts, shared by other human beings. So dance becomes accessible to everyone, not only to professionals.

Dance is no simple physical change in room, but a change in consciousness, causing „metarmorphoses“ in body. Dance is not the presentation of movemant, but passage created by changes of sensoric and mental variations.

Or to say it simply with the words of Pina Bausch: „I am more interested, why people move and not how they move.“

This is accompanied by the refuse to conserve traditions or to be occupied by „Zeitgeist“. That leads to aesthetic solutions like the creation of sense for time and space instead of occpupying them on stage.

The term „danse automatique“ refers to surrealist „ecriture automatique“ , that defines a process auf writing, determined by unconscious means only. In contrast to „ecriture automatique“, which starts without any specific idea or task, an idea or tasks builds the starting point in the „danse automatique“.
Although this method is also used in psychoanalysis, „danse automatique“ is nothing else but a creative way to develop movements and has not any therapeutic use.
„Danse automatique“ is the danse developed from unconscious confrontation with topics. Dans is not the narrative illustration of a theme. Danse and topic are a unit. The result won’t be understandable in a intellectual or technical way.

My dance does not give any answers, but asks questions.
